The answer is simple: there is no catch. We partner with energy retailers who offer plans that allow you to pay only for the power you use, which costs less than traditional grid power because the energy retailer sells you some of the energy from the solar system on your home. By joining our network, you're saving money and participating in an innovative approach to reducing energy costs for everyone.
No smoke and mirrors here. There are zero upfront costs with NRN. You'll be billed at a reduced rate for the power you use.
Leave the technical stuff to us. At NRN, we handle regular monitoring and maintenance to ensure your system runs efficiently. If there's a hiccup, we'll fix it at no extra cost. You can rest easy knowing we take full responsibility for the system's operation and performance.
You're not locked into any one energy retailer. With NRN, you maintain your "Power of Choice" rights, which means you can switch energy retailers anytime to find the best rates for you. If you choose a non-partner retailer, you'll have to pay a daily fee to NRN in addition to the standard rates and fees from your energy retailer.
Feed-in tariffs are a minimal payment offered by energy retailers that is typically capped. NRN works with energy retailers to remove this cap and maximise the annual expected benefit of exporting energy back into the grid. So although you do not receive a feed-in tariff you do benefit from exporting energy back into the grid.
You can purchase your Solar and Battery system at any point based on the depreciation schedule outlined in your service agreement. Once purchased, we'll transfer all warranties to you so you'll continue to have full coverage.
If you'd like to purchase your solar and battery system at any time, simply contact NRN at support@nrn.com.au or call us on 1800 595 348, and we'll provide you with a buyout price. If you decide to sell your home, the system must be bought out as part of the sale. Get in touch with us, and we'll provide the current buyout figure to facilitate the process.
The NRN agreement runs for 12 years, during which we maintain, monitor, and service the solar and battery system, ensuring it performs at its best with no upfront costs or maintenance worries.
At the end of the 12-year term, you can either keep the system for no charge or have your system upgraded with a new battery & inverter, and continue with NRN. It's that simple.
If your circumstances change, you also have the option to purchase the system at a depreciated value. Before you sign up, you'll be given the exact price for buying out the system at any point of the service agreement.
Virtual Power Plant
A Virtual Power Plant is a network of connected systems providing power and other grid services. The VPP is controlled by a central system that manages the production and distribution of electricity according to demand. When electricity demand is high, the VPP draws power from multiple sources and distributes it to the grid. When demand is low, the VPP can store excess energy in batteries or sell it back to the grid. VPPs help to increase the efficiency and reliability of the energy grid by balancing the supply and demand of electricity.
A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) with NRN helps you save money on your energy bills. Through our partnership with energy companies, you can access energy from solar and battery systems without the upfront cost. This allows the energy company to offer you lower bills as they are selling you the energy from the solar system which NRN have paid for. Additionally, VPPs reduce the need for costly grid upgrades, helping to lower energy prices. Join a VPP with NRN and enjoy a more affordable energy solution.
